Evie is a free Text To Speech (TTS) app that transforms written text into an audible narration. It is ad-free and can be used for as long as you want with any TTS engine on your phone. You can listen to a book while commuting, working out, gardening, or even while going to sleep. Evie can read out loud even in the background or with the screen turned off. You can control playback with your earphones buttons, either Bluetooth or wired. Evie offers an equalizer to fine-tune the sound the way you like it. Evie does not require any permissions to run and does not need access to your files, contacts, or any other information. It does not read nor store cookies on your phone. Evie integrates with Polly, the TTS engine from Amazon, which is a cloud service that uses deep learning technologies to synthesize speech that sounds like a human voice. This is a paid feature and requires an Evie account. Evie offers simple in-app purchases for a pay-as-you-go model. Evie can help you learn a foreign language by repeating each sentence multiple times and waiting for you to repeat. It can also translate each sentence on the fly and read the translation out loud to you.
